GOALS FOR RESIDENT EXPERIENCES AND EDUCATION


The overall goal of the pediatrics curriculum is to prepare family medicine residents to provide high-quality outpatient pediatric care as independent providers.


  1. To improve knowledge and practice in the routine care of well children and adolescents including providing anticipatory guidance for parents.
  2. To gain familiarity with normal child development and common developmental problems
  3. To gain experience managing common pediatric illnesses in the outpatient setting
  4. To become familiar with appropriate specialty referrals and community resources for referral of pediatric patients
  5. To have the opportunity to learn more in-depth on a topic of interest in pediatrics
